More Planning

I also created a little flash animation made of the key
frames, to get the feel of this motion
I drew some sketches following the reference footage I shot on
flash and saved it as a j-peg for planning.  This became
very useful to pose the character accordingly
to dig motion of the clip.

Ref_Moom_Volley_ Dig / Planning

This give a close at the joints flexed
within this pose.

I found this image to give an idea of the pose the 4th pose in the
is the one that fits my reference footage.

Using this reference footage I will attempt to replicate
this movement with the Moom character.

Bowling Ball 4th/ Final attempt

In this 5th and final attempt I think the timing is good and
I have gone back on the rotation and made it rotate slight
instead of what it was, it proves the less of it the better.

In this attempt the bounces are starting to a lot smooth
and more realistic and there is a slight change in the
rotation where I have alter so there is less. Still
needs tweaking as it is a bit jumpy.

Bowling Ball 2nd/3rd attempt

In this 3rd attempt to make the bowling ball bounce the second
bounce looks better, but the rotation still needs tweaking as
it jumps quite a bit where more rotation
 to the bowling ball.

In this version its getting there, the second bounce is a
bit quick and the rotation needs changing
as it jumps a bit inbetween.

Bowling Ball Planning/ 1st attempt

This attempt show the drop which is  good start the other bounces
need to be tho, to give more impression of weight.

This chart I found on google shows the direction of the
bounce the shear difference in weight
I have to take in account.
This sketch I did is a plan that shows the
weight and motion of the bounce
so I have some to start from.

5th and Final attempt looped

After the previous version I mad a lot progress
and tweaked to the max so this is my is
final attempt of the shuttlecock bounce.

Shuttlecock 3rd/4th attempt

The general of the animation is looking a lot better, in terms of
speed and movement, changing the spin has made a  big
impact on this version, I think it needs more movement
that impression of how light it is.

In this my thoughts on the spin were its not working,
but it travels through lands fairly well a lot adjusting
to be done tho.

Shuttle Ref_ 1st / 2nd attempt

In this attempt the drop is quicker and looking bait better
not sure the direction the spin tho, don't think
it working that well.
This attempt I animated the drop which needs to be quicker
and the direction needs to altered to make smoother,
and at the end there a odd slight rotate that needs
to be taken out.

This ref footage Simon let me borrow, is useful towards the as
it bounce and you see the weight and movement of the
 Shuttlecock.

Walk Cycle very nearly there

At this point my walk cycle is looking good, just the
a slight poping in the leg and the bob needs to be
adjusted so its not just up and down, so I could
consider a slight twist in the shoulders.

Tennis Ball 4th/5th attempt

In this 5th attempt I have made a breakthrough
the bounces work well and got rid of the
rotation and stretch which makes it look
better just a bit timing tweaking to do.

This attempt shows the progress seems to be getting worse
the bounces are better, where I tried to stretch and rotate
its falling to pieces

Walk Cycle so far

This is a close up of the blocking of the arm swing,
this close up capture allows me analysis and make this
into a fairly good standard as it is still a
working progress tho.

After making a lot progress in blocking out the lower
half the of the walk cycle, I was already ready
to start blocking out the arms.

Walk Cycle Track of Progress

For my first attempt I mad some good progress so far, there slight leg
poping and foot roll that needs to be considered.

This is a screen grab of me posing the Moom character accordingly
follow the animation thumbnail drawings.

Animation Survival Guidelines for Walk Cycle

Richard Williams Animation Survival Kit
Guidelines

This thumbnail show the me the key pose I to take into when animating
the walk cycle to fit my Moom_ character in Softimage. The Contact poses
which 1,13 and 25 are fairly straight forward, but the crucial point are the
down and up pose as this creates the arc the walk cycle should follow.

This thumbnail sketch was very useful when
it came to posing the arm swing after
blocking out the legs first.

This allow to the counter acting of the
arms right for my walk cycle.

I think following these drawing according made the walk
quite straight forward to animate.

Tennis Ball 2nd/3rd attempt

This my 3rd attempt and the bounce is a bit quicker,
still a lot work needs doing I've it looks like floating
in this version.
This is my second attempt and the bounces need to be
quicker and there needs more impression that it is
dropping from a metre off the ground. The tennis
is stretched out of shape, a lot work
to needs to be done.

Tennis Ball Planning/ 1st attempt

This is my attempt and there's a bounce, but
the timing and second bounce
needs adjusting.

This image allow me to the direction, timing, height
of each bounce for tennis ball as this the
movement I am trying to replicate.

This Reference footage is a varied types of ball bounces,
but it was particularly useful when it shows the tennis ball
 bounce in the planning stage.

Bouncy Ball ex

Viewed at a angle with textured this view of my most
recent attempt this me allowed to analysis the squash.

This a front textured view

This a wireframe view of the bouncy ball this view allows
me to the changes I need to make as its very clear.

This is a quicktime of seperate captures consisting of close ups to
portray the ball travelling down the shoot into the tray.

Ball Exercises

This is generally outline view of the ball exercise
making it way down the shoot into the tray.

The croquet exercise was achieved by Keying the impact and
the contact of the ball being hit and adding in the rotation.

By learning how to position and rotate an object and blocking out an animation
I was able to Key frame the position and rotation to make the sphere
look like it was going through a maze.
